I read the first book enjoying being in the head of a character, and now, the character has completely changed and is doing frustrating things and even though, narratively that's interesting and probably going to be solved in the finale - it simply makes *reading the story* an unpleasant experience. This one is a little bit more historical. Feared and despised for the sinister power in her veins, Alyce wreaks her revenge on the kingdom that made her an outcast. Even her intense hate for Derek, the human who washed up on Briars shores who won some of Auroras friendship, grew annoying and it bothered me how it felt like the story was trying to set up a love triangle or force Alyce to hate someone who wasnt as bad as she made him out to be, making it feel annoyingly petty. If not that, then will Alyce's revenge open Aurora's eyes and turn them against Alyce? And I think that kind of just goes to what you were saying about how I think I always say that, like, I wish this space like existed when I was younger, when I was teenager, obviously, I was talking about these books and talking about authors and loving these worlds that it was just crazy to me to think that other people didnt know they existed. Because like there is nothing left. But could Aurora ever love the villain Alyce has become?
